On 3 June 2025 – Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford
More than 30 inspiring finalists gathered at the 2025 Community Stars Awards, each representing the spirit of service and compassion that defines Bradford’s vibrant communities. Organised by Bradford Council with support from the Telegraph & Argus, the evening celebrated the achievements of individuals and organisations who go above and beyond to make a difference across the district.
Ten winners were announced across ten categories, honouring outstanding contributions to community life — from early years support and voluntary service to inclusion, health, and innovation.
The Rohingya Centre UK (RCUK) was proud to be named finalists in two prestigious categories:
- Shared Value in Action Award
- Voluntary & Community Group (Small) Award
This recognition highlights RCUK’s ongoing commitment to empowering refugees and asylum seekers — not only through advocacy and leadership for the Rohingya people, but also by delivering practical, frontline support that helps individuals and families rebuild their lives with dignity, safety, and access to essential services.
From immigration and welfare advice to school enrolment, GP registration, employment support, ESOL classes, and cultural and educational programmes, RCUK continues to serve with a holistic approach that ensures no one is left behind.
While RCUK did not win an award this year, being named a finalist in two competitive categories is a significant milestone and a proud moment — reflecting the Centre’s growing visibility and the trust it holds within the community.
This follows the 2021 honour, when Mohammed Amin, CEO of RCUK, was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Community Star Award for his dedicated service during the COVID-19 pandemic — a testament to the Centre’s long-standing role in community resilience.
Mohammed Amin, CEO of RCUK, said:
“Being named a finalist in two categories is a proud moment for all of us at RCUK. It reflects the dedication of our team, volunteers, and the community we serve. Our work is driven by a deep commitment to dignity, justice, and hope. This recognition celebrates not just our efforts, but the strength and resilience of the Rohingya people, both in Bradford and around the world.”
Dr. Mohammad Khubybe, Chief Operating Officer of RCUK, said:
“It was an honour to stand among so many incredible individuals and organisations who dedicate their time and heart to making lives better across Bradford. Being a finalist in two categories reminds us of the trust our community places in us. We are committed to continuing this journey with integrity, purpose, and hope.“
RCUK extends heartfelt thanks to the organisers, sponsors, judges, and every individual who continues to shine a light on local community heroes.
Congratulations to all winners and fellow finalists — your compassion, commitment, and courage are what make Bradford a stronger, more inclusive, and hopeful place for all.
